GOLFIE FIRST TIMER
The Golfie, also known as Caberston Forest, is a famous mountain biking destination in the Tweed Valley, Scotland - because of its challenging trails, stunning scenery, and vibrant riding community.
It is perhaps the very definition of Winch & Plummet mountain biking; pedal your way up fire roads and open moorland, then drop your dropper and enjoy the long singletrack descents.
Trail Management
A number of the trails on the Golfie are maintained by the Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVT).
The Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVTA) is a registered Scottish Charity set up by local mountain biking enthusiasts to help sustain and manage the trail network across the whole of the Tweed Valley Forest Park.
From the original idea born out of a pub meeting in 2015, to reaching official charity status in late 2017, a core of keen locals have come together with the intention to build upon and improve what is already a nationally if not world renowned MTB venue.
The Climbs
You can access the Golfie by bike from Innerleithen village which takes around 10 minutes. The climbs up the Golfie are 50% fire road and 50% moorland track and ridden at a slow steady pace.
The much improved section - EWS Paydirt Path has taken the riders away from a very wet and boggy section.

The views from the very top are worth the effort as are the 6 plus minute singletrack descents.
The Trails
There are a vast number of trails at the Golfie all graded Red, Black or Orange. This is where local knowledge is key to ensure you maximise your time on the trails with effective route planning and trail choice.

There are more trails in the Tweed Valley from more XC orientated routes, other less well know forests, to the world famous Glentress trail centre which can be included as part of your guided adventure.
